Explore the Bundian Way

Below the high country

Walking the old pathway, strange to say, it generally seems to be obvious, evident and quite well-defined. The country is as wild as can be but the way reveals itself you realise in retrospect. It’s the best way to go. The touring route runs for some 390km through an amazing variety of landscapes. Few days along it are like any other. The scenery is constantly changing.

A Story Trail of a few kilometres between Cocora Beach and Quarantine Bay in Eden is now officially open. Two metres wide with crushed granite it offers disabled and wheelchair access to some very scenic parts of Turramullerer (Twofold Bay) and opportunities for a guided cultural experience.

In the Byadbo wilderness

Although the whole route is not yet open for walkers, this may not take long. With adequate government assistance the whole route would have been open sooner rather than later.

The first aim is to get the route open with the most basic or primitive amenities, then update the services as things progress. And hopefully there will be a dedicated web site up soon. There is a lot involved in getting the public infrastructure into place, but yes it’s one fabulous walk based on Aboriginal culture and shared history and well worth waiting for.
